“DESIGN SHOULD LEAD US TO A SIMPLER LIFE, FREE OF EXCESSES AND FULL OF EMOTIONS AND MEMORIES”

Born in 1990, in a Cuba where stories hide among worn-out surfaces, faded textures, and fragments frozen in time, his creative vision was forged at the crossroads between nostalgia for a past that still breathes and the tireless pursuit of the essential.

Graduated in Industrial Design from the Higher Institute of Design in Havana in 2015, he began his career collaborating with design studios in the capital, exploring various disciplines and creative languages. However, over time, a deeper need emerged—to align his work with his personal vision.

In 2019, he started his professional career as an independent artist, participating in national competitions. Although his work was not recognized in his homeland, the experience ignited a strong determination to share his creations with the world. In November 2021, his talent was finally acknowledged when he was selected from among numerous international designers to take part in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano, where he exhibited his work in a special section dedicated to emerging young talents. There, he built a bridge between his essence and the global stage. It also marked a major milestone, as it was the first time Cuba was represented at the SaloneSatellite.

This event was not only a professional achievement, but also opened new doors in his personal life. Participating in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile gave him the opportunity to emigrate to Spain through a complex yet hopeful process. This move represented a new beginning—an opportunity to develop his career in an international context, where he would find space to collaborate with renowned brands, artisans, and manufacturers from around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

His work finds its identity in a fusion of influences: the sophistication of Italian design, the spiritual serenity of Japanese philosophy, and the authentic visual decay of his native Cuba. The contrast between the purity of the essential and the material brutalism becomes his creative language, honoring the past through perfect imperfections that emerge as protagonists. The harmony of proportions, the powerful visual narrative of light and shadow, and the sensuality of textures give shape to pieces that transcend functionality to become a sensory experience.
